Use Mains PYQs differently from Prelims: focus on demand, directive words, dimensions, examples, structure and answer-writing depth.
Identify the exact syllabus line or sub-topic behind the question.
Determine the underlying concept instead of memorising only the answer.
Record factual, conceptual, statement-based, analytical or application-based demand.
Note misleading statements, close options, qualifiers and common elimination traps.
Convert the lesson into a short revision note or flashcard.
Use the same concept in practice tests to check retention and application.
Habitat IAS can organise and analyse the papers, but the original question papers should always be cross-checked against UPSC's official repository.
