UPSC Prelims Syllabus
The Preliminary Examination consists of two compulsory objective papers. GS Paper II (CSAT) is qualifying with a minimum qualifying standard of 33%.

History of India and the Indian National Movement.
Geography
Indian and World Geography — physical, social and economic geography.
Polity & Governance
Constitution, political system, Panchayati Raj, public policy and rights issues.
Economic & Social Development
Sustainable development, poverty, inclusion, demographics and social-sector initiatives.
Environment
Environmental ecology, biodiversity and climate change.
General Science
General science and developments relevant to the examination.
PAPER II — CSAT
General Studies Paper II
Comprehension; interpersonal and communication skills; logical reasoning and analytical ability; decision making and problem solving; general mental ability; basic numeracy and data interpretation at the prescribed level.

The Main examination assesses depth of understanding, analytical ability and the candidate's capacity to give relevant, meaningful and succinct answers.
